话说，美国Columbia University哥伦比亚大学学生宿舍门上，都习惯贴着写有自己名字的名牌，可能是方便找人什么的，比如这样 ⬇
然而某天，中国留学生发现门上的名牌被撕掉了，但有些中国留学生的名牌却安然无恙，后来才知道，被撕名牌是写有中文名的，没撕掉的是用了英文名来代替。
这是想要做咩?简直是赤果果的歧视行为。
不久，哥伦比亚大学的多文化事务办公室发邮件来 稳定军心 ，并承诺会调查此次事件。
其他组织也跟着回应了

Having just moved out from Schapiro this semester, I am extremely upset by the factthat friends in my old housing group were harassed in such a cowardly waybecause of their cultural identity. As a Chinese citizen who has lived in the States for six years now, I've personally experienced some of the finest racism, nativism, and xenophobia in the world and want to let those on this campus holding these values know that I, along with many of my fellow Chinese friends, won't remain silent any longer. Stop hiding in the dark and ripping off the door tags when we aren't aware: if you have a fxxking problem with our names, just go fxxk yourself

Members of the clanare considered to be descendants of the mythical dragon. 呼和 are the first two characters of the city wher I was born and raised, Hohhot, and it borrows the pronunciation from the Mongolian word Xex, meaning blue. In literal Chinese, the name also abbreviates to preach harmony.
The multiple layers of meaning in my name are no coincidence. Each Chinese name is chosen for a newborn baby after months of deliberation across generationswithin the family. My grandfather, a barely literate peasant, only made theextra effort to consult a dictionary when his grandsons and granddaughters were born. My culture believes that names not only carry the blessings of families and ancestors, but also point us to our destiny in life as humans.
